“Women have to take the time to focus on our mental health – take time for self, for the spiritual, without feeling guilty or selfish. The world will see you, and treat you the way you treat yourself” – Beyonce
You are important. Your happiness is important. Self-care to me is doing anything that makes me happy. We have so many obligations and responsibilities, it’s easy to forget we are individuals who deserve to take time to do things which make us happy, for no other reason than that.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by what life can throw at you. It can be hard to be your authentic self when you’re struggling to process all the information around you when you’re trying to be many things to different people.
Today I wanted to reach out to those of you that feel overwhelmed by your commitments and are at breaking point. I may not be able to carry your burdens, but I can hopefully give you a better perspective of your situation so you can help yourself.
Right now, you may have the sensation of feeling empty; you’re more indecisive and insecure than normal and your mood swings can be extreme. All these factors point to the fact that you’re losing touch with your authentic self and the reasons why you’re on the path you’ve chosen.
This doesn’t mean you should give up…It does mean you need to take time out to re-evaluate how you’re spending your energy and whether it’s falls inline with what is important in your life.
This week has had its challenges for me. Since establishing my Life Coaching business I have found myself being caught up in the digital world of marketing strategies. Taking all sorts of advice from different business coaches who are mainly online based. Some said I should be specific and look for my niche market, others said develop more online programs, others said get specific and talk to your ideal customer! Now here is the problem when you are seeking opportunities… People will try to sell to you and offer your help, which is great if its the right person who understands your business.
My Inbox is cluttered, full of emails generated from funnels, email marketing! There was so much digital noise around me that I had to shut off. I was making myself doubt my abilities! I was having thoughts such as “Should I change my Life Coaching to Business Coaching”, “Should I do more online and create more lead magnets”? My mind was on overdrive! I had gone through my check list and done the following; funnels, created freebies, started a mailing list, constant website updates, creating lead magnets, created a online course, advertising but not being specific. Spending on facebook adverts! Oh my god the list is endless. Noise was everywhere and I was FULL OF OVERWHELM.
I had a radio show interview coming up and I knew I had to take time out. I took a day off! Had a day in the park appreciating real life, not a digital one. Quite quickly realising, I had been listening to the wrong people! The peace and quite was just what I needed to reconnect with myself. I reached out to a few different people, including Mark and Karen Shields, the people that were responsible for my Life Coaching training and they very quickly put me back on the right path. I had realised THERE IS NO SPECIFIC NICHE for a Life Coach. I cannot market in a digital traditional way! realisation had set back in that I had taken myself on the wrong path when it came to marketing.
Life Coaching is a profession that is profoundly different from consulting, mentoring, advice, therapy, or counseling. Life Coaching is a designed alliance between coach and client where the coaching relationship continually gives all the power back to you, the client. We believe that you know the answers to every question or challenge you may have in your life, even if those answers appear to be obscured, concealed or hidden inside. You, the client, are the only expert in your entire life who truly knows who you are and what you need. You are the only expert who can recognize what is absolutely best for you. What I can help with, using techniques such as NLP, talking therapies and Hypnosis is;
- Confidence, Self Worth & Self Esteem
- Loving Relationships That Work
- Career Change – Creating Workplaces That Work
- The Mastery of Balance – Juggling a Life
- Self Care – Getting Your Own Needs Met
- Living Your Purpose
- Goal setting, planning forwards and taking action
- Hot Buttons – Managing Anger, Upsets, Frustration and Stress
- Managing Sadness and Change
- Parenting relationships
- Self & Identity – Life purpose
- Anxiety, Mild depression
- Fears, bad habits, and limiting beliefs
- Food, Nutrition, & Optimal Health
There is so much as you can see that we can work on together. I cannot niche my market, and I have very much excepted this. What I can do is become more visible and write about my experiences and educate about different areas such as stress in the work place and how confidence can hold us back.
Very often, when we enter a relationship with others, we will give parts of ourselves freely in order to fit in. There isn’t anything wrong with that, but if you compromise too much and forget to regularly connect to your authentic self, you will start to lose control and fall into despair.
It’s important to take the time out for yourself. Even if it’s just 10 minutes a day to enjoy and be present in one singular moment. Be it a trip to your favourite coffee shop or a scroll in a park. Trust me, by allowing yourself this time to reconnect, you’ll become more resilient and enjoy a happier more fulfilling life. I will allow myself one day every week to spend me time and to keep myself on the right path and in the real world with people. After all, I am a people person and a heart felt coach.
